Thanksgiving Dinner

A delicious Thanksgiving dinner was enjoyed by over 125 residents and guests of FHTV. Turkeys were provided by management and residents provided a wide variety of tasty side dishes. Bill Riglle presided as MC for the event and introduced Dennis Dwyer, lay minister who gave the invocation. Dennis conducts the 11:00 am Sunday morning chapel service at the park. Coincidentally, he and bill were roommates on a church sponsored trip to Israel earlier this year. He preceded his prayer of thanks by some meaningful quotes.

  • Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence! - Erma Bombeck
  • Got no check books, got no banks. Still I'd like to express my thanks - I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night. - Irving Berlin
  • He who thanks but with the lips. Thanks but in part; the full, the true Thanksgiving, comes from the heart. - J.A. Shedd
  • Grace isn't a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal. It's a way to live. - Jackie Windspear

After a "we all ate too much" marvelous dinner, we were delightfully entertained by the sensational Clark brothers. Terry Clark resides locally and Weldon Clark lives in Irvine, California. They are the sons of residents Alleen and Lloyd Clark. They both play the guitar and delighted the audience with many nostalgic sons. Terry was joined for some gospel arrangements by his daughter, Samantha much to the enjoyment of us all. A real big "thank you" goes out to everyone involved in the planning and preparing of this wonderful event. Special kudos go the people that provided the beautiful table centerpieces for their table. When it was all over -- can I have just one more piece of pie -- everyone left with a full stomach and a grateful heart. I know there were many besides myself who were very appreciative to have such wonderful friends to share their Thanksgiving day.

Happy Thanksgiving

Well another year is almost at an end, can you believe it? The Village is having our Annual Thanksgiving day dinner at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. It will be wonderful as always, I'm sure. For those of you who will not be here to share dinner with us, have a wonderful day with your family and friends.

The weather people are saying that by Thursday or Friday we will be 20 to 30 degrees cooler than it has been. (Of course we have been above normal temps since I got back from California.) By Saturday we will only be in the low 60's for our high! brrrrrrrrrr What ever will we do? :}

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Still Traveling

Claire and I have decided to stay in the U.S. this winter because of a bunch of assignments from RV magazines. We still won't be back at FHTV until April 1 as we will be all the way to Key West and all over Florida, South Texas and West Texas working on stories. We are also going to the big RV trade show in Louisville, KY at the end of this month. Claire has three pieces in RVXtreem each month, most with my pictures. I've had recent cover photos and stories in: RV Journal, Escapees and Traveling Times. We're busy!
Turtle speeding down a back road in Maryland. For lots more fall color photos, go to my new blog: http://newbohemiansnet.spaces.live.com/ You can also get there through our old blog, just click the top blog there.

Hey you guys! Just because most of you are back in Tucson (I'm jealous) doesn't mean you can't post to the FHTV blog. It's still summer in Tucson! Send your photos from around the park, and news of new grandchildren, snow back home and and maybe the picture you took of your sweetie getting a hug from one of those Wednesday night entertainment guys or gals. When the camera club gets up and running they should post a best photo of the week maybe!
Just email your stuff to bjmartin1950@gmail.com and she'll post it here.

Missing you!
