Twenty-one of our group stayed for the annual Pig Roast Cancer Benefit held bythe Jordan's on Saturday the 21st. The Jordan's purchase a pig from ourlocal county fair and provide all the good stuff that goes with a pigroast. We started the day with a canoe and kayak flotilla covering afive mile stretch of the Muskegon River. Next came the dinner followedby the music by the campfire provided by Pete Jordan, Harold Gregorich,Rob Kotecki, our next door neighbor Lori Campbell, and friends John Kaneon Harmonica, and Marilyn Jones on the fiddle. Iowa News

HI TO THE 4 PRETTY GIRLS TOPPING THE FHTV BLOG. YOUARE DOING A GREAT JOB.

When Janee mentioned blog at our computer club meeting, I thought who would want any part of that, but here I am and I think it is great.

It seems the weather is always the first topic to report. We had 5 inches of rain this week and it looks like more is on the way. Needed it a few weeks sooner, but at last thankfull. Enjoy being back in Iowa. Not doing square dancing either club this year. Gene still working at the Country Club only Sun. Doing a little golfing. We did attend a horse sale in June. Gene loves horses so that made it extra great. Daughter, Jeanine and Lloyd flew home. It was Lloyd's sister and husband had the sale on their farm at Fairbank Iowa. Fifty top percheron show horses like world and national champions and other award winners,a lso 6 horse hitch and harness and wagon. Two of these horses sold for over $50,000. Too much work with a trucking line to run. LuAnn and Steve to be here the last week in July to get our superstarcraft boat to take back to Tucson. Gene got a small used fishing boat to replace it, something easy to handle. We need to report going to doctors appointments too.

We are looking forward toTucson, just wish we didn't have all those miles.

News from Del & Dolores Syverson

It was so wonderful to receive the Summer Blog today, enjoyed everybit of news.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at FHTV in September, WE fly out of here on Sept. 19. Are having lots of fun get-togethers with friends, neighbors, families, etc. being our move is permanent toTucson.

WE have been very busy with sorting, packing, giving some items away and selling a few items. We are so fortunate that the young man buying our house is also buying our furniture, makes it so much easier. After 40 + years in the same house, we have accumulated lots of things, but are doing well with parting with lots of goodies. WE are looking forward to the Mid-West picnic on August 22 at the Medenhalls, and seeing our FHTV friends again.

Thanks again for including us in your mailing. Love you and looking forward to seeing you in Sept.

July 14, 2007

Hi; We got the blog yesterday and enjoyed reading it, and going on line to check it out. We have had a cool and hot summer so far, furnace runs one day and the air conditioner the next. All I can say it it is better then the three digits, I see in the paper you folks are having.

We have been busy with doctors appointments, golf, scrapbooking and a little casinoing. The only downfall so far was that my (Fred's) mother went to be with her lord and savior on the 11th of June. She was 99 years old and was praying to go for a long time. I'm happy for her, but it still hurts to see her go. The picture of the lilies attached are from the lilies we had in church for her 90th birthday. I took one plant home and replanted it and it came back white for two years and then it changed colors to the beautiful orange with brown trim ever since. The plant is now in many different gardens. As you can see we do have a garden up here in the North Country, we are eating fresh onions, lettuce and the beans will be ready shortly, with the tomatoes latter. The other picture is Helen's flower garden in front of our trailer.

We are looking forward to the Minnesota picnic in August at Mendenhall's.

A FHTV 77th on 07/07/07

Eileen Erickson celebrated her 77th birthday on 7/7/7. Please read the Arizona Star article by clicking on the link below.
On the day before I (JoAnn) was working at the gate office when a big- big black limo stopped just outside the office door. It was there to meet the reporters from the Daily Star. I got to meet Eileen and Arlo's 2 sons, one from CA and one from the midwest. In the car was "All" their family. All the sons and daughters and all the grandchildren. What a surprise! They came out of the limo one at a time to receive their hugs and kisses and then another family member would get out of the limo until all were greeted. Arlo had been planning this birthday surprise for over 3 months keeping it from Eileen the whole time. Both Eileen and Arlo have been walking around the Village about 6 inchs off the ground. About the time their feet touched the ground the article came out in the East Side insert. A couple of days later their feet were on the ground and the same article came out in the city wide paper. I understand Eileen tried the casino but to no avail.

PATIO SITE CONSTRUCTION END IN SITE

The first picture is looking West on Aztec. The second picture is looking East on Entrada toward the Gate Office. (Note the monsoon clouds) The trees are almost all planted and we are working on the irrigation. The construction company will be spreading rock today and tomorrow. The lights are to arrive the middle of next week. We have had great excitement over this construction. As was told before a gas line was hit and punctured so things were shutdown for a week. Of course no construction is without a water leak or two. Yesterday 7/11 Jeff was running a small front loader and got it wedged against the concrete slab. When they were pulling him and the loader out, "tip", over he went sideways. A bobcat is equiped with seatbelt and a roll cage and you have to have all of them on or it won't start. So safety wasn't an issue but that doesn't mean you can't get hurt. Jeff's put up his arm as he was tipping over and as the roll cage and him hit the ground his arm hit the roll cage. Roger took him to TMC for 7 stitches and a tetanus shot.
I've been told that the summers in Tucson are quiet with all the people up North. Maybe one of these summers we will have that here at the Village. If we hit triple digit today it will be the 30th day of over 100 degrees.

Hello to all our Far Horizons friends.

I finally got logged on to the FHTV Summer Blog – It took this long for me to find the address. With all the traveling and hauling stuff back and forth.... I seem to lose everything!! And I never get things straightened up. It is really nice to read and view all the different things going on down there in Tucson and across the country with all our friends. I know there are many special "Get Togethers" yet to happen — so please keep all of us "stay at homes" informed of all the fun times.

Most of us have been home three months now— Where does the time go? Have you caught yourself thinking about Tucson? Oh, I don't mean the 110ยบ temperatures. Naw– I mean thinking..... "WOW, it will soon be time to head back to Far Horizons!!" —That kind of thinking. If you are like me, there is just so much fixing and repairing, mowing and trimming-- AND Rain, Wind, and Hail a person can take! We do seem to squeeze in a couple of trips with Grandchildren but many days are just plain B O R I N G! Bring on the Far Horizons FUN! So everyone keep in touch and be safe and healthy. We have some fun times ahead of us. AND --- Don't blink ----
It will be October!

We stopped at a RV place to get some deodoran for the Motor home and was looking around at their Park Models and saw an older one and then they said so much and I said would you take less and said they thought the boss would.
