Bob and Claire visiting FHTV friends

Mike Reynolds, Pan Traina and Claire

Hi, from Bob and Claire, on the road. We've been visiting some FHTV folks, and thought we'd add a couple of pictures here. We didn't get pictures of Nick and Carolyn Clifford, new owners in FHTV from the Black Hills (Nick was a carver on Mount Rushmore)
For six weeks of pictures and adventures please visit http://www.wwwnewbohemians.blogspot.com/ You can click the Bob and Claire link at the right!

Smith's Anniversary

We thank all of the Far Horizons family who remembered us with cards or phone calls as we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful family gathering with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mike & Vicki in Washington state

HI to EVERYONE!!!
Wow, it really is great to get news from all over the country.
We are well settled here. Mike has made himself indispensible out at the
campground and they have all but hired him for for a paying position in Maintenance next summer. They all call him "The Guy Who Never Quits" because he is always fixing something. "Isn't there ANYTHING you can't do?????" He is loving the job. I go out every other week and work in the office of the small Ranger Station at the entrance. Data entry, answer questions (learn something new with every one). I'd forgotten how GREEN it is here! It is glorious walking the short way to work among the tall tall trees, seeing the sun filtering (yes, sometimes it's sunny), and hearing the birds singing their hearts out. We go down to the beach a lot; the water is what we miss in AZ.
My Mama had abdominal surgery right after we got here and my little sis or
I stayed with her 24/7 for 3 weeks. She's done very well. But, sadly, we lost her little sister last weekend suddenly. Auntie Harriet had had a stroke 4 years ago and life was not fulfilling for her, daughter Sam, or Mama. So her sudden death was a shock but we are all at peace for her.
We haven't had any Tucson visitors out at Mora Campground yet, although
many said they would be up this way. We did have breakfast with Marv and Dorothy Gregert our first week home. They almost beat us here! We still hope Marc & Becky Audiss will make it up.
Again, HI to everyone, take care of yourselves and stay healthy.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there, have a really great day!!

JoAnn and George are off in North Carolina vacationing. Hopefully they are having "fun in the sun" and getting some much needed rest.

I'm still in sunny California and loving every minute of it. We had some of our Tucson guests here in the park last week as they made their way home for the summer. They are new annuals to Tucson, Buck and Karen Christopher site #348. They should be back in Tucson about the same time I get back the middle of September. Remember that you do get a great mid-week discount here, if you are a Tucson annual. The weather has been perfect warm days and cool nights. You couldn't ask for better.

bj

Sure is quite around here!! Except for the new pad construction on Entrada/Aztec!! We are still waiting for them to finish the cleanup of the wash behind Uno. A real fire hazard now! After all these years, there are not enough people to continue the Wednesday Night Potlucks!!! Can you believe it? I am already working on the "Evening in Paris Dinner " (with music to dance by ) that we are planning for February 29, 2008. It is going to be a "real winner". You plan on coming!!! Y'all hear !!!
Make your reservations early!! Marian Shepard

Dick Easterday's surgery went well and he was moved out of Intensive Care Unit today and they had him sitting up most of the day and he sleeps as well sitting as lying! He'll be there six or seven days then lots of rehab! He got abovine valve rather than a pig valve--because of his size I guess. Ardell

Phyllis Randall sent me the above e-mail about Dick on 6/7/07.

Well that's all the news that I have for now. Y'all take care and have a safe fun summer.

Cool in California

It's been a while since I have been out on the blog and I see lots of new pictures of the park and lots of good changes going on. But, I must admit that I don't envy those of you who have to put up with our "Arizona" heat. The days here in California are averaging the mid to high 80s and the nights are wonderfully cool in the mid to upper 50s. I know that will be ending soon as we get into June and July but for now it is cooool!

We have had several comments from some of you regarding the blog and I've attached same.

Michael and I are really enjoying the FHTV Summer Blog!
We’re doing fine. Michael just had another MRI and round of Dr. appointments and everything is still just about the same, and, with this illness, that’s good news! Of course we know that the cancer is still there, and his chemotherapy is continuing every 28 days. For now, we’re enjoying our time together.

We’re traveling more this summer, too! In mid-June, we’re planning to head out to New England to visit my aunt and some friends. Then we’re going to the Michigan party in July, the Minnesota party in August, and then we’re heading back toward Tucson via Vancouver at the end of August!

We hope that all of our Tucson friends are enjoying your spring!
Always me, Janee Arnoff

We left Tucson at midnight Tuesday, flew, rented a car, bought a car and arrived at the cottage at noon on Wednesday!!!!!!!! Not bad for a couple of ole geezers. Temperature was 35 this morning but sun is shining and a good day to get settled in. Now to watch the Uof A softball team get to Oklahoma City. Mary Jane Van Arsdale

Last week I sent an email stating that we had arrived to chilly New York, 35 deg. in the morn. Everything is green, green and beautiful. Jim and Pat Fuller are also back in New York and getting ready for holiday visitors. Mary Jane and Clyde

Marion Eby was a long time winter resident at FHTV. Many will remember her, fondly. Dolores Dewey Sorry to be the bearer of sad news but Marion passed away at l0.30 am today, May 24th.

She had been in the hospital for the past 2 weeks but the Doctor sent her back to Gateway Haven yesterday and she just slipped away peacefully this morning.

Would you kindly pass the sad news on to others in the Park.

What a neat idea to set up a blog for all of us! Thank you so much!

We're back in Chattanooga and all is well. As I write this, we're just getting ready to raise our mint juleps and sing "My Old Kentucky Home" to begin the Kentucky Derby (old habits die hard!)

We send love and greetings to all our FHTV friends
Ken and Katy Conklin

Well guys that's all I have for now. I will be sending copies of this to our friends and neighbors who do not have access to computers.

See y'all when I get back in September or you get back, in the meantime have a fun, safe summer.
